A special summer weekend of tango with Tomás Howlin in Missoula combined with the annual July weekend dancing, potluck, camp-over at Lori & Patrick’s in Potomac!
Saturday, July 8th
An intensive seminar fully focused on the Tango Body. This year’s program will focus on the spine and hips. No steps, no figures, no choreography. Only exercises, drills, and awareness practices. In this four hour program, Tomás will go over concepts of anatomy, body mechanics, and technique for dancing tango. This day will be broken into two sections from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
Intensive is at the Downtown Dance Collective: 121 W. Main – And it does have AC!
8:00 pm – Pre-milonga, introductory class.
9:00 pm – Saturday evening milonga at the DDC. Nathan Smith will be DJ’ing all vinyl music from his collection!
Sunday, July 9th
Two workshops with Tomás for experienced dancers:
1:00 pm to 2:15 pm- Workshop 1– Circles and Ripples: core principles that make your turns work.
2:45 pm to 4:00 pm – Workshop 2 – Having Fun Together: using footwork and connection to play with and tempt your partner. (Note; workshop 2 will build on workshop 1, so you can’t only attend workshop 2.)
Workshops are at the Downtown Dance Collective: 121 W. Main
